About the Event
Starting on Thursday, December 8th, Santa Comes to Southport with the Southport Volunteer Fire Department, stopping at Spic & Span Market, where Southport Congregational Church leads the crowd in spirited caroling at this beloved holiday tradition. Immediately following, kids can visit with Santa across the street at The Russell Agency.
On Friday, December 9th, Pequot Library hosts its annual Caroling Party, offering its popular horse-drawn carriage rides through the Village, followed by holiday craft-making, caroling on the Library’s Great Lawn, and a new holiday market.
At the Saturday December 10th Shop & Stroll, the Village merchants’ stores will be filled with holiday collections of clothing, accessories, art, décor, jewelry, antiques, food, dining and more. Adding to the festivities will be music provided by Wakeman Boys & Girls Club.
On Sunday, December 11th, Trinity Church brings back its community-wide Carol Light event, welcoming friends, family and neighbors to sing around the bonfire on the front lawn among the hundreds of luminaries.
And all weekend, the Southport Fire Dept., The Southport School and Congregational Church will hold a Holiday Toy Drive benefiting the CT Institute for Refugees & Immigrants. Donations of new, unwrapped toys for children ages infant through high school can be dropped off at the Southport Firehouse on Main Street.
NEW THIS YEAR on THURSDAY NIGHT:
Southport Congregational hosts their Blue Christmas & Tree of Life service on 12/08 at 6:30pm. This simple worship service of readings, songs and reflection includes a ceremonial Tree Of Light service with the reading of the names of loved ones who have died, and holds them up in God’s love and light.
